STEM Competitions
Our student competitions vary from teams that collaborate to design and create solutions for industry-relevant challenges to creating inspiration art. They are always FREE and are for all different grade levels.
STEM DOODLE ART
We are excited to announce the STEM Doodle Art Competition! This is a unique opportunity for students in grades 3-12 to create doodle art focused on STEM. The winners will be featured in our STEM Doodle Coloring book for all ages. This coloring book will be a fun way to inspire and see the importance of STEM. We hope that this competition will encourage more students to get interested in STEM and show them how much fun it can be!
Doodle Art Competition Specs
Overview
All entries will include (1) original STEM doodle art and (1) completed entry form that includes a written response to the question: Why is STEM important to me?
Rules
- All entries should fill a space 4.25″ by 5.5″ – that is half of a standard piece of copy paper. Please DO NOT rip or cut paper.
- Entries should be thoughtfully planned for its intent to be used as a coloring page.
- Each doodle entry should include elements that represent STEM as the majority, but may also include traditional doodle elements, research is encouraged.
- All entries should be black and white (no color), and open line. Open line drawing is a drawing made of solid line. Keep in mind that these doodle pages may be used for a coloring book.
- Entries should be free of excessive marks from erasures.
- Entries are judged based upon relevance to and incorporation of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), and the imagery, artwork, originality and creativity, and overall presentation.
- All entries must be original works without aid from others. Physical drawings may be scanned and submitted digitally. Illustrations may be created using pens, pencils, or markers.
- The illustration may also be electronically created by using a digital painting and drawing app on a computer, tablet, or mobile device. If the illustration is created using a digital painting or drawing app, the name of the program must be included on the entry form.
- The written component should be a complete thought and written in complete sentences. (This section is on the entry form) If handwritten, it must be neat and easy to read.
- No clipart or unoriginal images can be used.
- Only one entry per student will be accepted.
- Students must be sponsored by a school or another sponsoring community group (e.g., Homeschool Association, Boys and Girls Club, Scout Troop, 4-H, etc.).
- By entering this competition, it serves as consent to use artwork for publishing and marketing purposes and winners’ names, likenesses, and entries for editorial, advertising, and publicity purposes.

Prizes
Without Walls EDU will award prizes to winning students in 3 categories:
Grades 3-5
Grades 6-8
Grades 9-12
In addition, each winner’s art will be showcased in tour STEM Coloring book.
Deadline
Student Submission for Winter Competition must be postmarked by Friday, December 22, by 11:59 PM ET. Spring Competition submissions must be postmarked by Friday, May 17, by 11:59 PM ET.
Entry Form
Each drawing must include an attached entry form to be eligible.
